The L&D Construction team, David, Ryder, and Sarah worked with me to build an ADU (apartment over a 2 car garage) on my property in Denver. From start to finish they helped me plan and design, answering any questions I had along the way. Once construction started everything went very smooth. Any changes I needed to make were handled with an easy mobile platform and simple discussion with the guys. I am very happy with the ADU and have lived in it for about 6 months now, enabling me to rent out my main house. I highly recommend L&D!

L&D completed our new garage and ADU just over a month ago on time and on budget. I still can’t believe what an amazing, seamless, transparent, and genuinely easy experience it was from start to finish. From our very first exploratory meeting to the final walkthrough, we felt as though we were working with trusted friends. From the start Dave, Sarah, Ryder and Clayton were casual, at ease, yet always professional, competent, and responsive. No matter what decisions had to be made or the inevitable changes and unforeseen challenges, it always felt like we were on the same team, working towards the same goal. They have such pride in their work and are so very helpful every step of the way. What’s more, they brought in the most talented assembly of subcontractors I could imagine. Every sub is clearly hand picked by L&D for top quality work and for alignment with L&D’s values. Every member of every team were true craftsmen in their field, be it plumbing, electrical, framing, drywall, tiling, painting, HVAC, you name it. Every sub was excellent. And holding it all together every day was the tag team of Ryder as onsite construction manager and Clayton as overall project manager. I really can’t say enough about our experience. It was so above and beyond our expectation for a general contractor. We are absolutely thrilled with the final product and couldn’t be happier about the experience. L&D are the experts at ADU’s. They know all the in and outs for every project phase better than anyone: from design to the navigating the labyrinth of city zoning and approvals, through to constructions and final inspection. It was seamless. Hire them. You will be delighted and amazed.

We chose L&D Construction after seeing the work they did on a close friend’s home. Once we saw the quality firsthand, we felt comfortable moving forward with them. Our project was a full scrape and rebuild in Denver on a split lot, which came with plenty of permitting and inspection hurdles. L&D managed the process well and kept things moving as smoothly as possible. The timeline stayed on track overall, and the budget was very close to what was originally outlined, with changes coming from upgrades we decided to make along the way. Communication was consistent, and they were always willing to talk through questions or concerns. We’re really happy with how the house turned out and would work with them again.

We had a great experience working with L & D Construction on our ADU. They clearly knew what they were doing, kept us informed throughout the process, and stayed on schedule and budget. The finished ADU has been perfect for our needs—we use it as a short-term rental and also for visiting family and friends. Guests always comment on how comfortable and well-designed it is. We'd definitely recommend L&D to anyone thinking about building an ADU.

As novices in all aspects of homebuilding, we went into the process totally blind. The crew at L&D was able to answer, and sometimes re-answer our many questions. L&D Construction was able to anticipate our needs and always had solutions to any hiccups that came up. We cannot recommend L&D highly enough!

David Schultz and his team at L&D just built us a new garage with a gorgeous ADU above. The process of working with an architect and then finding a good builder had been very stressful. We were nearly ready to sign a building contract with another firm when we met Sarah Senderhauf from L&D. Sarah told us that L&D specializes in ADUs and after seeing a new ADU that they had built in our neighborhood, we asked them to give us a project estimate. We hired L&D for a number of reasons including of course their competitive estimate and their extensive experience building ADUs. But, what set them apart was our feeling that we could trust them. They were friendly, professional and communicated clearly with us, explaining all aspects of the building process and providing what turned out to be a very accurate estimate of how long the build would take. They also impressed us with their familiarity with the permitting process, which had been bogging us down. After we signed our contract with L&D and throughout the building process, we were entirely satisfied. L&D delivered on everything they had promised. We came in slightly under budget, slightly under the completion date in the contract, and the process was smooth. They remained, throughout the project, professional, extremely competent and very communicative. And, also very importantly: the finished product is well built and beautiful. We had never done a building project on this scale before and were expecting at least some time and cost overages and certainly more stress because we were feeling plenty of it during the design process and the search for a builder. L&D told us when we hired them that they would make the rest of the project less stressful and more enjoyable and they absolutely delivered on this promise. And as we have hired them to fully renovate our house, we are confident that they will come through for us again.

L&D Construction oversaw the construction of a charming cottage lockoff addition to our home that initially served as an accessible, one-bedroom home for our aging parents, and since has been an AirBnB. In future, we are highly likely to move into it ourselves and let our children take over the main house, that's how much we love the addition. From the beginning, our property had some extra challenges because we had not fully completed the property line merger of two separate addresses, or removed the extra water and gas line to the addition space. Sarah was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in working with the city on that process, and making sure there were no hitches in platting or permitting. We were very specific in the details of the design and construction, and Clayton and L&D's staff was consistently responsive and helpful in making those plans come true in three dimensions. When L&D realized the architect left some questions in the design, their project managers immediately worked with the framers and other contractors to solve the problem safely and aesthetically and avoid delays. L&D To this day, more than a year after construction, they continue to answer questions and follow up on the project. We have already recommended them for other projects in the neighborhood and will continue to do so. Our AirBnB now has more demand than we can supply, with frequent rave reviews about the design and clean construction, and our neighbors often describe it as an appealing and welcome match for the neighborhood.

L & D Construction came to us by referral, and from day one Sarah’s deep knowledge of Denver codes and the permitting process was invaluable. She helped us secure a tough variance that made the project possible. Their team communicated clearly, stayed consistent, and delivered our first home on budget with no surprise costs or delays (outside of the expected city hurdles). We were so confident in their process and craftsmanship that we partnered with them again for a larger whole-home build with a garage and ADU, which we now call home. David’s standards for fit and finish are exceptional, and if something wasn’t right, he made sure it was fixed. His pride in the work really shows. While timelines can stretch in construction, L & D proactively handled delays with a solution-focused approach. They deserve to be known for building both beautiful ADUs and full homes on time and on budget. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to work with a construction company with integrity, transparency and strong day-to-day communication.
